Lecturer - Fashion Design & Business 0.8FTE (Level 3 Extended Diploma)
Part-time 0.8FTE (29.6 hours per week)
Based at Brighton Central Campus
An incredible opportunity has arisen for an outstanding Fashion expert to join Brighton MET as a 0.8 FTE lecturer with the responsibility to lead, design and develop this highly successful and very popular course. Our course will give the right candidate a rare opportunity to shape this fast-growing and dynamic programme. Fashion at the Met is an outstanding curriculum area located in our new Creative Industries studios at the MET’s Pelham Street campus in the heart of the city.
As such, we are looking for a fashion ‘all-rounder’, someone who has the creative skills and artistic confidence to teach across a variety of fashion specialisms including the ability to teach garment construction, an awareness of market levels and target audiences, fashion retail awareness and a sound knowledge of sustainable fashion design and how to embed this in teaching. We are also looking for someone who thrives on variety and constant change and challenge and who is not afraid to take risks. Engaging with the fashion community in Brighton is also vital as we pride ourselves on the high number of live, client briefs and outstanding industry engagement that we provide for our students. This includes the business and entrepreneurial elements of the course where we encourage our students to be independent fashion makers and designers. The Creative Industries department is fully supported by a team of dedicated specialist technicians and we have a well-stocked art shop on site. The successful candidate will work closely with the Deputy Head of Learning to ensure the highest standards of creative excellence in teaching and learning are delivered at all times.
If you have course leadership experience, are a qualified lecturer who has taught fashion at level 3 previously and can deliver outstanding lessons, then we would love to hear from you.
