An exciting opportunity has arisen for an outstanding creative lecturer to join Brighton Met as a 0.6 fte lecturer with Study Programme Lead responsibility.This post is for our highly successful and internationally renowned Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Art and Design. 

The successful candidate will have responsibility for managing a team of 5 specialist, pathway lecturers and several sessional support lecturers in the effective delivery of our flagship course.  

Our Foundation Diploma provision is outstanding and has a strong reputation for quality; seeing many of our students progress to the very best universities. This role will give the right candidate a rare opportunity to lead and shape our Foundation provision which attracts over 200 students each year. Standards are very high and this is a challenging role but one with great diversity and opportunity for personal development. The successful candidate will support the Deputy Head of Learning in ensuring the highest standards of teaching and learning are delivered at all times, will be on hand to support internal quality reviews and standardisation and will be an outstanding teacher in their own right. We are looking for someone exceptional, someone who has the skills and confidence to teach across a variety of subject specialisms; someone who is not afraid of hard work, to take risks, someone who thrives on variety and constant change and challenge. Ideally an ‘all-rounder’, someone who has a degree or masters in a key creative subject and preferably a successful practitioner in the arts.  

If you have course leadership experience, are a qualified lecturer who has Foundation Diploma experience and can deliver outstanding lessons in all or some of the following subjects this could be the ideal position for you; Graphic Design, Fashion and Textiles, Illustration and Animation, Fine Art or 3D Design. Experience of teaching creative software such as Photoshop, After Effects, In Design, Illustrator or Premiere Pro would be highly advantageous.

You will also require an academic qualification at Level 5 / Level 6, or professional qualification equivalent in a relevant subject area and a recognised teaching qualification (or willingness to gain one).  You also require knowledge of curriculum planning and development to meet the learning needs of all students within a possibly diverse cohort. Good written and verbal communication skills and good IT skills are also essential.
